Spandau!

Hallo liebe Familie und Fruende! So it's true everyone, I am now in Germany! woooooo We left the MTC at 3:30am on Monday morning last week then three flights later, we landed in Dresden on Tuesday morning! We were greeted right away by our Mission President, his wife and a handful of other missionaries. They gave us our first genuine German Pretzle and some orange juice. It was great! Then we loaded on a bus and went up to this amazing place in the town of Radebeul which overlooked the town, which was such a breathtaking sight (that I didn't get a good enough picture of...mehh). It was a place where Thomas S. Monson dedicated and promised many great things would come to the people of Dreseden, including the ability to go to the Temple and paticipate in the work there. That was really cool to learn about because it gives me a widened perspective of how much the Freiberg Temple was prayed for and needed and how amazing it is that they now have it! After that, we actually got t

Letzte Woche im MTC!

Ich gehe nach Deutschland am Montag!! Hallo alle! It was another super fast and pretty great week! We got our travel plans on Friday and we leave for Germany on Monday! like Wayyyyyy early in the morning but I'm very excited about it, and ready to get out there and work and only speak German!! yessss. So we are at the MTC at a very cool time because in just these last two weeks, we have been visited by 1/4 of the Twelve Apostles! I talked last week about how Elder Bednar came! And then this last Sunday, we had M. Russell Ballard! He is so sweet and his message was very genuine and I loved that! Then just yesterday, we had Neil L. Anderson and that was super cool! His messages was about keeping the fire of hope burning within us, hope that there are people in every place in the world who are searching for the message that we are sharing as missionaries. He also talked about the power and importance of prayer, which I always love hearing about. Prayer is truly one of the most pow

Hallo! Diese Woche war ein bisschen verrückt! My district decided to audition for a musical number! Sister Wirthlin played the piano, Sister Pack played the violin and the rest of us sang "Nearer My God to Thee", but since there are more sisters in our district than elders, I sang the tenor part! haha it was fun. We were chosen to preform our song at the welcome/orientation meeting for the new senior missionaries and it was a super cool experience. There were a lot more senior couples than usual this week so that was cool too! We also sang it for one of our teachers who was very proud of us and wanted a copy of the music so he could play it on his violin (apparently he's very talented with a violin but isn't allowed to show us:( sad day) One morning during exercise time, we were playing basketball and I rolled my ankle and it started to hurt and bruise and swell a bit but I prayed realllllyy hard that it wouldn't hinder my ability to do all that I need to do.

Was that whole week?

I'm having a hard time believing that it's been an entire week since I last emailed... I was actually having a hard time thinking of what happened. But after reviewing my planner, I came up with a couple things. haha Sister Roach and I taught the relief society lesson at church about recognizing the spirit and it was awesome! I definitely think that being forced to teach serious lessons in a language I'm trying to learn has made my english teaching skills wayyyyyy better! I've also been working on allowing the class and the Spirit guide the lessons rather than strictly relying on my lesson plan and I've learned that the lessons are sooo much better when we let the Spirit guide!  Since we were assigned to teach that relief society lesson, we just took the same basic lesson plan and used it for our TRCs (teaching German-speaking members) and both of our TRC lessons ended being very different from each other but I think we were able to address and target the nee

I must be at the MTC

Hallo! So another week has come and gone here at the MTC! I still love it here, my companion is still awesome, teaching is still scary (but less scary than last week), and I'm learning more and growing closer to my Savior each and every day! So the reason why I titled this "I must be at the MTC" is because many things happened this week that really only happens at the MTC. 1) My investigator Charles, who I talked a little bit about last week became our new teacher! and then both of our teachers became our next two investigators Jan and Mario. haha I know that its a pretty normal thing here but I still think it's pretty funny how your investigator becomes your teacher and then a new investigator while still being your teacher. One of my teacher jokes that he has five different personalities! 2) before coming here I heard a lot of people talk about how the days go by slow but the weeks go by fast and I didn't really understand what that meant...Well I do now. At

Week One. Done!

Hey GUYS :) So I completed my first week here at the MTC and wow! It has been quite the experience! So basically from the moment I arrived it was GO GO GO!! Each day is 16 hours and it is so fulllll of things we have to do! I really enjoy my classes, which are in all German and I love that!! I came into the MTC with 3 years of background and a love for the German Language so I started a bit ahead of some of the other new German missionaries. But in just one week, everyone has improved in the language like WAYY more than I did in all my years of German in high school. I know the gift of tongues is a seriously real thing! So far we have already taught four full-length lessons to our first "investigator" Charles in German! During our first lesson, I was able to understand a lot of what Charles was saying and asking but my companion Sister Roach and I were worried coming into the lesson that we just wouldn't have the words adequate to respond to him and help him. But the s
