Was that whole week?
I'm having a hard time believing that it's been an entire week since I last emailed... I was actually having a hard time thinking of what happened. But after reviewing my planner, I came up with a couple things. haha
Sister Roach and I taught the relief society lesson at church about recognizing the spirit and it was awesome! I definitely think that being forced to teach serious lessons in a language I'm trying to learn has made my english teaching skills wayyyyyy better! I've also been working on allowing the class and the Spirit guide the lessons rather than strictly relying on my lesson plan and I've learned that the lessons are sooo much better when we let the Spirit guide!
Since we were assigned to teach that relief society lesson, we just took the same basic lesson plan and used it for our TRCs (teaching German-speaking members) and both of our TRC lessons ended being very different from each other but I think we were able to address and target the needs of the people we taught and it was pretty awesome. Everyone always talks about how much they hate TRCs because they can't understand and it's stressfull and all that. But honestly I loved it and understood most of what they said. I'm excited for our next two TRCs on Friday.
On Saturday, our night teacher was being hilarious and we all basically laughed the whole class. I'm not sure I can really explain what was so funny about it but it honestly doesn't take much to make missionaries laugh, and we definitely needed it :)
We are going to meet with our investigator Mario tonight and hopefully he will pray (*fingers crossed*). I love working with investigators and watching them grow right in front of our eyes. it's amazing.
On Tuesday we were assigned to sit along the tour route for a couple hours and it was fun to talk to everyone--including some people from Germany and Switzerland as well as some people who just knew German! What a great language! The devotional that night was fantastic like always. We were able to hear from Sister Bingham, the general relief society president and she talked about how the gospel of Jesus Christ allows us to see our life and purpose better. She talked about how great missionaries are made when they 'master the basics' by studying our scriptures and praying with real intent and always remembering our Savior.
As a choir, we sang this beautiful song entitled Precious Savior, Dear Redeemer for devotional and when we sang, I got chills and the power of the spirit among these thousands of missionaries was SO strong and I looooovvveedd it!
Oh and a member of my branch presidency showed us this Marin Luther Bible he was given by an Austrian lady investigator he baptized when he was on his German speaking mission! It was from 1602! and you can still read the words! It was pretty cool to see that and hear his testimony.
Okay well I think that's everything! talk to you all next week! (hopefully this email makes sense and that their aren't too many typos.... I typed it sooo fast on a horribly sticky keyboard)
Liebe,
Sister Hymas
