Hallo liebe Familie und Fruende! So it's true everyone, I am now in Germany! woooooo We left the MTC at 3:30am on Monday morning last week then three flights later, we landed in Dresden on Tuesday morning! We were greeted right away by our Mission President, his wife and a handful of other missionaries. They gave us our first genuine German Pretzle and some orange juice. It was great! Then we loaded on a bus and went up to this amazing place in the town of Radebeul which overlooked the town, which was such a breathtaking sight (that I didn't get a good enough picture of...mehh). It was a place where Thomas S. Monson dedicated and promised many great things would come to the people of Dreseden, including the ability to go to the Temple and paticipate in the work there. That was really cool to learn about because it gives me a widened perspective of how much the Freiberg Temple was prayed for and needed and how amazing it is that they now have it! After that, we actually got t...
Hey GUYS :) So I completed my first week here at the MTC and wow! It has been quite the experience! So basically from the moment I arrived it was GO GO GO!! Each day is 16 hours and it is so fulllll of things we have to do! I really enjoy my classes, which are in all German and I love that!! I came into the MTC with 3 years of background and a love for the German Language so I started a bit ahead of some of the other new German missionaries. But in just one week, everyone has improved in the language like WAYY more than I did in all my years of German in high school. I know the gift of tongues is a seriously real thing! So far we have already taught four full-length lessons to our first "investigator" Charles in German! During our first lesson, I was able to understand a lot of what Charles was saying and asking but my companion Sister Roach and I were worried coming into the lesson that we just wouldn't have the words adequate to respond to him and help him. But the s...
I'm having a hard time believing that it's been an entire week since I last emailed... I was actually having a hard time thinking of what happened. But after reviewing my planner, I came up with a couple things. haha Sister Roach and I taught the relief society lesson at church about recognizing the spirit and it was awesome! I definitely think that being forced to teach serious lessons in a language I'm trying to learn has made my english teaching skills wayyyyyy better! I've also been working on allowing the class and the Spirit guide the lessons rather than strictly relying on my lesson plan and I've learned that the lessons are sooo much better when we let the Spirit guide! Since we were assigned to teach that relief society lesson, we just took the same basic lesson plan and used it for our TRCs (teaching German-speaking members) and both of our TRC lessons ended being very different from each other but I think we were able to address and target the nee...
